two by two

stacked rocks fall

I stack them again

to be sure

to be sure.

two wicks burn

the same candle

spirits alight;

bodies of fire.

ranunculus petals fall

one on top of the other

like even in death

they can’t stand to be apart

(even in death.)

about these poems

a family I don’t know personally is enduring an extraordinary loss. does that ever happen to you? you hear a story about love & it shakes you awake, stays with you for awhile, makes you feel something? these poems are for Sheinelle & her beloved Uche, God Speed. xo
