Breaking Blossom

wild delicate body

three hands and a foot

long lonely, rippling home

swan/step

swan/step

twilight is the blessing then

at times, the only thing

the fleeting respite

from days

steeped in inhales

step tersely, but bow

to darkness

to kindness

to the “ness” of everything

if I stepped out of my body

I would break

free

and run like the dead

across that empty, barbed vista

about this writing

this poem was prompted from the line “That if I stepped out of my body I would break into blossom” from the poem A Blessing by James Wright. what might happen if you stepped out of your body? xo, s.

  1. This is lovely – the pace, the “ness” of it..
