4.1
today a fool’s sky
cotton candy clouds
green thorns cluster high
a branch of hands
reach
reach
reaching

4.2
today bone white springs
where a face use to be
“remains” they call them
dying proof

4.3
today wild carrot seeds
scatter & stick
their tiny dry pods
between my prickled fingertips
something alive and earthy

4.4
today my mother’s birthday
somewhere she is infinite, like me
i drove home with her flowers in the front seat
like it was her sitting there beside me

about this poem
this was such a wonderful writing prompt! I got the chance to explore contour drawing which i’d never heard of before. for anyone reading who might be unfamiliar, as it was explained to me, you place your pencil on the paper, look at what you want to draw and move the pencil around the page without looking at it & also without lifting your pencil. the foundation for all four of my sketches was contour drawing, I loved it! and added watercolor and lines after, where it felt right. the themes in the writing here is repetition, softness, time, and playfulness ~ thanks for reading ! xo,s
